Finally, people who understood medical students' need to properly learn suturing and knot-tying on a realistic model. Great initiative, really well thought out and put together in a practical way. Hats off.

A brilliant initiative: practical, well thought out, affordable, and a real asset for pre-clinical suturing skills training.

Good idea, complete package with thread, needle holder, pad and pad holder. The pad holder in particular allows you to practise from several positions. Pad quality is good, you can try several suturing techniques including subcuticular and intracutaneous. Highly recommended.

A handy and complete practice kit at an affordable price. Definitely for medical students preparing for clinical placements, but also later on to keep your skills sharp. A nice addition to the existing suture kits are the MediStitch holder and the cord with suction cup for learning to tie knots. Compliments to whoever came up with this! A great example for students, made by students!

Ideal for brushing up on my suturing skills, which have been gathering dust for a few years now since my clinical placement year, and giving me enough confidence to suture sports injuries.

Tested this suture kit at the request of one of the founders; I also had my sister (who isn't in medicine) practise with it.

PROS:

- Great initiative to bring an affordable suture kit to market for medical students. If this kit had been part of the medical course pack, I'd have bought it as practice material during my studies.

- The website is clear and easy to use.

- The instruments are good quality.

- A good product for learning to suture.

TIPS:

- The suture needle doesn't glide through the pad as easily as it does through real skin. I also tested the needle on pig skin, which is even harder. The needle could be a bit sharper, which would make this a little easier.

- The thread on the suture needle is stiffer than the suture thread we use in practice; the stiff thread makes the knots not lock properly.

- The instructional video is illustrative, but not clear enough for non-medical students.

An interesting method for learning to suture. Specifically for episiotomies the model is a bit small and has artificially neat, firm wound edges, but the specific vulvar and pelvic floor anatomy is difficult to replicate on any model anyway.

A gap in the market (that can then immediately be stitched up with Medistitch ;-)). Brilliant initiative! And beautifully and practically put together, too...

This is a particularly useful tool for practising good suturing. It's also available at a very reasonable price.

A nice suture kit. Really handy to be able to practise yourself, because watching videos obviously doesn't tell you whether you can actually do it. A handy model you can reposition however works best for you. There's no suture forceps included though, so you'll still need to get one yourself. The material representing the skin naturally gets a bit damaged after a lot of practice, so it would be handy to have a second suture pad included. But overall it's definitely a good and practical kit that I personally used a lot to practise.

Great idea! A really nice, complete kit. I found practising on it a bit hard at first, but after practising on this kit, suturing 'for real' went well for me — and that's ultimately what it's about. Maybe as a tip: add a small overview of the different techniques. I'd recommend it!

I bought this suture kit at the start of the year on Ali's recommendation. And I'm very happy with it. The kit is delivered in solid packaging. The included skin is also fairly realistic. The suction cups on the cords didn't always stick to the table equally well (even after licking them a lot). Customer service is also very friendly. Top company!

With the release of this suture kit + knot-tying cord, it was finally over — the frustrating search for a simple way to keep up surgical knot-tying (let alone suturing techniques). All in all a simple design, but more than sufficient to practise the basic techniques. Durable material + also a replaceable 'skin' for the very active student. In short, the solution for students who want an easy way to get their hands on reliable material for practising suturing and knot-tying, and all that at a reasonable price.

I found that they wear out fairly quickly, and the feel isn't quite right either (the difference between epidermis/dermis, for example). Getting a pig's trotter from the butcher seems to me a reasonable alternative that approximates reality better and might be cheaper.

The MediStitch kit contains everything you need to practise. The fact that you can practise suturing from every angle, so you can easily learn to suture and keep making it harder, is a real advantage. The cord for learning surgical knot-tying is also ideal, because it has just the right thickness to follow exactly what you need to do, while still being thin enough to perform the movement correctly. In my opinion the best way for a medical student to practise their suturing skills! It replicates the skin nicely, you can practise different types of sutures on it (including subcutaneous) and, thanks to the stand, in all sorts of positions too. I got a lot out of this little package, and it contained enough material to practise sufficiently. The material itself was realistic and practical to reuse. The only downside was that once the stand was stuck down, it became very hard to move or reuse.

A really handy tool for students to practise at home too. Towels aren't really ideal, and this kit actually gives a realistic feeling in your hands while practising suturing. After asking, I was also sent a few links showing exactly how best to practise. So a top performer on customer service too! Hopefully this will help me with my dream of becoming a surgeon! Super handy for practising your suturing skills! The only small downside is that the suction cup only sticks to something plastic or glass, or at least something super smooth. A wooden desk, for example, doesn't work. There is a plastic disc included that the suction cup sticks to well, but once you've stuck that somewhere, you can't move it anymore.
